Go Software

Beginners can learn the basics of Go at home with some of the software available on the Internet. Most Go software isn't very strong, but is fine for players up to about 15-20 Kyu. Beyond this, most players have learnt how to trick the programs and they become useless. Players can also learn by downloading games from Professionals on the Internet. To do this, they will need software that reads games in Standard Go Format (SGF). Here is a selection of Go programs and SGF readers.

AGATHA

The AGA uses a custom Tournament Management software application called AGATHA, which is available for Mac, Windows and Linux platforms. As well as taking care of tournament tasks such as registering players and making the draw, it calculates Credit Points and provides reports for the AGA rating system. It is available from the Files section.
